This place is dripping with taste. Oozing class. Erupting with decadence. Anyone who’s anyone - but not just anyone - wants to be invited to this party. The hostess describes a sumptuous banquet, with the help of her ladies-in-waiting, for the delight and satisfaction of her adoring subjects.
Here's a sneak peak of the Bouffon Scratchings team preparing a feast for your senses Saturday 25th June at the Assembly Roxy in Edinburgh. The creators of the Clown Cabaret Scratch Night bring you a new evening of dark delights...
It was my turn to deliver the two days of Conflux Skillshare workshops this month on 3 and 5 February, and I led workshops at the Briggait based on the Viewpoints movement technique created by Mary Overlie and developed by Anne Bogart of SITI Company and Tina Landau.
On Thursday 18 February, I had the pleasure of running a workshop for Theatre Gu Leòr at the Tron 100 Club, exploring accessibility in theatre across language barriers. We had a good turn out, and had a play with the acting and directing technique that Muireann Kelly is using for Shrapnel, following the work of Mike Alfreds and Graham McLaren.
If you think either of these workshops would be useful for your company or group, please get in touch.
Beth and David Banks will be performing 'Property Ladder', a new piece of devised theatre about housing, at Je suis LA(-BAS) December 3rd at Stereo Cafe Bar in Glasgow, as part of The Only Way Is Ethics festival.
Ronan McMahon and I will be debuting a clown piece about the life of the famous Cynic philosopher, Diogenes of Sinope, this Saturday at the Clown Cabaret.
On Saturday 17 October, Adam Boardman and I will be performing our acrobalance piece, 'Rewind', at Portobello Loves Circus, a circus cabaret in benefit of Edinburgh's new circus arts centre, Full Cirqle. Tickets are available from www.fullcirqle.org.uk. Come see us turn back time!
We had a great time translating Fragile for a completely different site at the University of Kent, performing instead of in the heart of Merchant City on a field churned to mud by a week of Glasgow-style rain and diggers! Here is the Motionhouse photo roundup: http://www.motionhouse.co.uk/blog/index.php/2015/09/fragile-at-boing-festival-the-roundup/
Many thanks to Conflux for the opportunity to train and perform with Motionhouse and to Kevin Finnan and the Motionhouse dancers for helping me develop my movement skills in a new direction and for the good craic all summer long.
For the past two weeks, I've been working hard with a variety of other physical performers on a Conflux residency with Motionhouse, putting together their new show Fragile, directed by Kevin Finnan. Here I am talking about it (and doing a little swinging around) in a video on the Motionhouse website: http://www.motionhouse.co.uk/…/building-fragile-another-am…/
The residency involves performers from circus, dance, parkour, physical theatre and performance art backgrounds who will all be joining Motionhouse company dancers (and some JCB diggers!) for the opening act of the SURGE Festival at Merchant City Arts Festival this coming weekend, July 25th and 26th.
Às an Dorchadas was a roaring success - we sold out all three nights, and got four-star reviews from the Scotsman and the Herald. Mary Brennan described it as "A genuinely impressive and affecting achievement" and Joyce MacMillan called it "a vital, imaginative development for Gaelic drama in Glasgow". I played Lori Chandler, one of the "giggling girlies in the attic, scaring each other with ghost stories". Thanks to all our lovely cast and crew for making it happen!
